ANNUAL ECONOMIC SUMMIT
New date for 'What's Happening Up North'
Our annual economic summit is an all-day event that features dynamic keynote speakers with Q&A, panel discussion sessions, audience participation and ideation. For 10 years now, the What's Happening Up North summit has proven to be the most important annual conference on our region's economic trends, providing abundant insights for local businesses.
Effective in 2026, the summit dates have changed! The scheduling format for our economic summit series is switching from an annual event to every 18 months, alternating between Spring and Fall dates. That means our next summit is now set for late April 2027. We are lining up some amazing speakers, and we are expecting this upcoming Spring summit to be truly outstanding. Watch for additional information on the event, coming as details are finalized, including the confirmed summit date.

Meet our executive director
Brent Baker
In 2022, BCEDC and the City of Sandpoint collaborated to revise the organization’s bylaws, draft a new Strategic Plan, and restate its foundational Purpose, Vision, Mission, and Core Values. In the process, the organization rebranded its operations as the Pend Oreille Economic Partnership, and in December of 2022, hired Brent Baker as the Executive Director and tasked him to guide the fulfillment of that Purpose and Mission.
